2017 was another year for Bangkok Airways to be proud of as The Company was the first airline in Thailand to receive the renewed Air Operator Certificate by ICAO from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand. Besides, it was the third time that The Company received the world-class Skytrax Awards for “The World’s Best Regional Airline in 2017” and “The Best Regional Airline in Asia in 2017”. With these achievements, it shows our determination in maintaining the standard of our service and safety as our priority.
Throughout the year, the number of tourist arrivals to Thailand has seen a constant growth, so has the domestic air transport business. The airline business did face a tougher competition from many choices of service added on into the market. The Company, therefore, had strategized to continuously develop all aspects of service in order to have an edge over other competitors and to maintain our status as the World’s Best Regional Airlines for years to come. Apart from the commercial airline business, our joint-ventured companies namely Bangkok Flight Services Co., Ltd. and Bangkok Air Catering Co., Ltd. have both expanded as well. Their moves have evidently taken shape as Bangkok Air Catering opened up new facilities at Phuket International Airport and Samui International Airport, beside its home-based Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Additionally, The Company has entered more codeshare agreements with leading airline partners namely Thai Airways International, Hong Kong Airlines, and Vietnam Airlines in the light of expanding flight networks to respond to the needs of passengers and airline partners by utilizing Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi Airport), Samui, and Chiang Mai as aviation hubs to connect passengers to Asia’s key tourist destinations. The Company also increased flight frequency on domestic and international routes such as Bangkok - Chiang Mai, Phuket - Bangkok, and Chiang Mai - Mandalay; while also introducing new routes: Bangkok - PhuQuoc (Vietnam) and Samui - Guangzhou (China) which are the region’s most bustling cities in terms of economy and tourism alike.
